Oak Lodge Swarm
Adrift on invisible currents in the air, the Oak Lodge Swarm creates movement and texture, adding to the wonder and playfulness of children’s literature. Each swarm ‘boat’ is constructed from sound-dampening felt, suspended from the ceiling by invisible wires. JA developed the parametric swarm using algorithms that mimic the movements of birds in the sky or currents within a magnetic field. The digital approach allowed JA to provide detailed information on the placement of each boat, ensuring fidelity to the original design.
The swarm invites curiosity and imagination, reinforcing the sense of play central to children’s spaces
Crafted from sound-dampening felt, the installation gently improves acoustics while adding warmth and texture.
