Old Works Clubhouse
Johnston Architects designed an expansion and remodel of the Old Works Clubhouse in Anaconda, Montana, reimagining the beloved community destination through a design inspired by the region’s dramatic landscape and industrial history. The result blends refined craftsmanship with rustic authenticity, creating a welcoming space that celebrates Montana’s natural and cultural heritage.
Serving as both Architect and Interior Designer, JA created a unified experience that connects the building’s structure, finishes, and furnishings. Warm wood tones, blackened steel, and jewel-toned accents bring depth and texture to every space.

Echoing Anaconda’s copper-mining legacy, the building’s addition is wrapped in copper siding, and locally sourced copper accents appear throughout the bar front, lounge, and furniture details. Oak floors and coffered ceilings lend elegance and warmth to the interior.
Oversized folding glass doors open the lounge to an expansive patio with fire pits and heated areas, extending the season and strengthening the building’s connection to the surrounding landscape.
The clubhouse includes a restaurant and lounge, a welcoming reception area, a pro shop, and golf simulator rooms. Each space is designed for flexibility and comfort, supporting golfers and visitors year-round.
