Powell Library

The new Powell Library replaces an aging facility that had been expanded over the years but no longer met the needs of its rural Wyoming community. Designed with GSG Architecture, the new building provides a warm, light-filled space for learning, gathering, and connection, reflecting the resilience and spirit of life in northwest Wyoming.

More than a library, the new Powell branch will be a vital gathering place for Park County residents. Its design reflects the area’s agricultural heritage and the community’s deep connection to land, work, and one another.

Large clerestories fill the reading room with natural light, revealing the library’s exposed structure and creating a bright, open space that feels both honest and welcoming.

Carved seating alcoves for teens, a children’s library with imaginative play elements, and flexible rooms for classes, workshops, and community gatherings support patrons of every generation.

Interior walls of reclaimed Wyoming snowfence bring warmth, texture, and history to the new library, honoring the region’s resourcefulness and craftsmanship while connecting the building to its landscape.
