Shane Leaman

Associate / Design Technologist
Headshot of a man with dark hair and beard and arms crossed. He's wearing black frame eyeglasses and a blue grey plaid shirt.

Shane was born and raised in Anchorage, Alaska. He worked in graphic design and print production before making the switch to his life-long passion: the built environment. Shane earned his Bachelors in Architecture at the University of Washington, where he merged his existing skills in technology with his love of hand rendering and model building. At JA, Shane blends lighting, energy, and view analysis with design insight and social awareness, advancing our work toward more equitable and sustainable outcomes. Shane’s upbringing taught him the importance of the humanitarian power of architecture, and he uses his skills to push for better design through science and art. When he’s not developing parametric software or designing unique lighting installations, Shane pours his energy into beautiful pieces in his woodworking studio and coming up with clever nicknames for his cat, Lilly (i.e. Lilly-Beans, Lilly Vanilli, etc.)
