Last Chance

Located at the base of Flag Mountain among large granite boulders, the Last Chance House reflects the character and beauty of the surrounding Methow Valley. The interior is designed for connection between its occupants and the environment.

Last Chance exemplifies how modern mountain living can blend functionality, resilience, and beautiful design.

Committed to environmentally responsible design, JA specified high-performance windows and insulation. Low maintenance, long-lasting Shou Sugi Ban siding and rusted metal panels on the exterior of the home will continue to patina over time.

2025 Methow Home

The great room faces the meadow and is centered around a wood stove, with furniture thoughtfully arranged to invite conversation and communal living. A seamless indoor-outdoor flow is created with an adjacent outdoor kitchen, encouraging year-round engagement with nature.

Built in a valley known for frequent rock falls, a board-formed concrete stem wall was designed for the cliff-facing side of the house to protect it in case of geologic shifts.
